Interstate Competition

The VRI Bowls Club has played in every ANZRI Lawn Bowls Carnival since they started in 1934.

Most recently, in 2014, the Carnival was played in Queensland.  The next Carnival is in Mandurah, WA, from 7/2/2016 to 24/2/2016.

Players selected to represent the VRI in the teams play in either Singles, Pairs, Triples or Fours games in the Mornings of the Carnival, and in the Afternoon after lunch, the Tests are played, with 4 rinks of fours playing for the Denniss Cup and Commissioners Shield, and the Reserve four playing for the WA Anderson Trophy.

All players selected are expected to play in both the morning and afternoon games, over the 6 days of play of the Carnival.

The ANZRI Carnival is the Australian and New Zealand Railways Institute Lawn Bowls Carnival, and teams from Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and New Zealand play each other in Round Robin matches.  Finals of the section winners from the morning games are played off for the trophies of the morning Championships.

The Champion Side is the one that wins the Denniss Cup and Commissioners Shield competition.
