Cricket

The Victorian Railways Institute have various Cricket Clubs for VRI Member to join for either competition or social players. Throughout the year year group host matches and competitions and we encourage as many members to become as involved as this is a great way to relax, have fun, enjoy your favourite sport, and meet new people.

Indoor Cricket

The ARI indoor cricket carnivals were introduced in 1991 to provide frontline railway men (shift workers) from all states to be able to compete in a sport which is readily accessible to them.

Outdoor Cricket

The Australian & New Zealand Railway Institute Cricket Carnivals have been contested since 1929, at rotating venues around the States of Australia & in New Zealand.

The most recent Carnival was in 2017.

These Carnivals are held usually over a 10-12 day period, and are as much a social as competitive event.  Official Functions occur throughout the Carnival period, and visitors are welcome to attend as well.

Public Transport Cricket Association

The Metro/VRI team in the PTCA plays on Sundays throughout the summer season in Metropolitan Melbourne Grounds. It is a competitive group, having won the Premiership last in 2013/14.

ANZRI Cricket

The State Side of the VRI have played in the ANZRI Outdoor Cricket Carnival since 1958, and have a rich history of success and enjoyment in this tournament.
